Summary:PURPOSE: A washing method of a washing machine is provided to compute accurately the hardness of the water and the amount of detergent with a microcomputer by using a corrected conductivity value and to set an optimal washing algorism according to the quality of the water. CONSTITUTION: A washing method of a washing machine is composed of steps for supplying the water to an outer tub of the washing machine(S1); detecting the temperature of the water by a temperature sensor(S2); detecting potential difference of the supplied water by a terminal unit of an electrode sensor and computing the conductivity of the water from the potential difference sensed by the terminal unit with a conductivity calculating unit of the electrode sensor(S3); confirming correction data for compensating detection deviation of the conductivity calculating unit and correcting a detection value of the electrode sensor with the correction data(S4,S5,S6); calculating the hardness of the water and the amount of detergent according to the corrected conductivity of the water and the detected temperature of the water(S7); and setting a washing algorism according to the hardness of the water and the amount of the detergent(S8,S9).
