Summary:PURPOSE: An LCD is provided to form a light scattering layer on an upper substrate for distribute incident light uniformly through the entire surface of the upper substrate, thereby improving luminance. CONSTITUTION: An LCD includes an upper substrate having a light scattering layer(460), black matrix and common electrodes formed on a second transparent substrate. The light scattering layer is formed on a second transparent insulating film and has a plurality of light scattering pattern(462) randomly dispersed inside to scatter light passing through a liquid crystal layer and a first substrate.
