Summary:PURPOSE: A method for automatically converting a key sound of a portable terminal is provided to automatically convert a key sound set as a voice into an aphonic sound when a password is inputted, thereby preventing a secret key sound from being leaked. CONSTITUTION: In a standby mode(301), a controller senses that a user inputs a number(302), and outputs the inputted number as a woman's voice(303). If the user inputs a functional key, the controller senses the functional key(304), and outputs a key sound to display corresponding functional data(305). The controller senses that the user accesses data(306,307), and converts into a communication mode(308). The controller senses that the user inputs a number key in the communication mode(309), and outputs an electronic sound as a key sound(311).
