Summary:PURPOSE: A plasma display device is provided to achieve improved set luminous efficiency, set luminance, and light-room contrast by reducing a display-electrode area and a display region reflectivity. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display device comprises a plasma panel and a driver circuit for driving the plasma panel. The plasma panel includes a plurality of discharge cells. Each of the discharge cells includes an X-electrode and a Y-electrode for performing a display discharge operation; a dielectric film covering at least parts of the X-electrode and the Y-electrode; a discharge gas filling a discharge space(33); and a phosphor(32) which is excited by the ultraviolet ray generated by the discharge of the discharge gas, so as to thereby emit visible ray.
