Summary:PURPOSE: A head position demodulating method and a disc apparatus are provided to demodulate a head position by using two phase servo signals so that it reduces a demodulation position error caused from a lead feature of a head. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. A signal demodulation unit(40) separates a track number and an offset signal from a position signal. Calculation units calculate(42,44) two phase servo signals by using the separated track number and offset signal. A saturation ratio table(46) outputs a saturation ratio corresponding to each head and zone. A condition determination unit(48) determines a demodulation condition. A track number checking unit(50) checks whether a track number is normally read. Calculation blocks(52,54,56,58) calculate necessary parameters by using demodulation condition calculating equations. A demodulation position calculation unit(60) selects one between two demodulation calculation tables(62,64) and calculates a demodulation position according as the track number is normal or not.
