PURPOSE: An immediate group communication system for immediate group communication between a data communication network and a telephone network, and a method therefor are provided to supply an immediate group communication service through a few software changes to an existing telephone network terminal where another device for group communication is not mounted and to a public/land mobile communication network terminal. CONSTITUTION: A data communication network terminal(11) is connectable to a data communication network. A telephone network terminal(12) is connectable to a telephone network. A gateway(13) performs a mutual medial conversion between the data communication network terminal(11) and the telephone network terminal(12). A group communication device(18) receives a message for requesting other terminal to participate in immediate group communication, sets a media channel between an MRS(16) and the telephone network terminal(12), and connects the MRS(16) with the terminal(11) to create a group communication session, then supplies the immediate group communication.
