Summary:PURPOSE: A defect detector of wheels in a traveling train is provided to obtain the exact and precise detected result by adapting a curved coil of an EMAT(Electro-Magnetic Acoustic Transducer) corresponding to the surface shape of the wheel. CONSTITUTION: A defect detector contains a base(100), an EMAT(300), a protection container(200) and a pin. The base is combined with a rail(2000). The EMAT contains a coil(330) and a magnet. The coil comprises by coating each metal thin films(331,332) on the surface of a sheet(333) in a repeatedly curved shape for receiving and transmitting supersonic waves against a wheel through the rail. The magnet is installed under the coil. The protection box is installed on the base by including the EMAT. The one end of the pin is linked with the lower part of the EMAT and the other end of the pin is connected with the protection box for rotating the EMAT by corresponding to the moving load according to the traveling of a wheel. The coil is curved corresponding to the curvature of the wheel lengthwise the rail. Thereby, a regular gap between the coil and the wheel is maintained.
