Summary:PURPOSE: A system and a method for facilitating communication between a computing device and multiple categories of media devices are provided to search device data sets and object data sets of the media devices by using a device retrieval module and an object retrieval module controlled by the computing device. CONSTITUTION: A method for facilitating communication between an initiator and a responder as one of a plurality of types of media devices includes a first providing process and a second providing process. The first providing process is performed to provided the responder(300,400,500) with a plurality of data sets. The data sets includes a set of properties supported by the responder. The properties are specific to the type of media device. The second providing process is performed to provided the initiator(200) with a plurality of control modules for seeking information from the plurality of data sets and for controlling objects of the responder.
