Summary:PURPOSE: A data processing system offering a non-disruptive hot-plug function is provided to offer a hot-plug component with a hot-add/removal function without disturbing a current operation of entire processing system. CONSTITUTION: An MP(Multiprocessor)(200) includes a processor-1(201), a processor-2(202), a memory(204), and an I/O(Input/Output) component(206). The components are interconnected through an interconnection fabric(208) including a hot-plug connector(220). Addition of the hot-plug component is completed through the hot-plug connector. The interconnection fabric includes a control logic for routing communication between components and controlling response for hardware configuration change of the MP, and wiring. The control logic includes a routing logic(207) and a configuration setting logic(209). The configuration setting logic includes the first and the second configuration setting part(214,216) connected to a mode setting register(218) controlled by a latch(217). A service element(212) executes a code needed for controlling the MP, and informs an OS(Operating System) of changes of processor resources and addition/removal of other system resources.
