Summary: | PURPOSE: Provided are an electrode which is improved in strength and conductivity by using a supporter and an electrochemical cell using the electrode which can be rapidly charged/discharged in a thin film and has a sufficient cycle characteristic. CONSTITUTION: The electrode comprises a porous conductive base; and an electrode active material and a conductive auxiliary charged in the inside of the void of the base. Preferably the porous conductive base is made of a carbon fiber; the electrode active material is a proton conductive compound which can carry out an oxidation reduction reaction with an electrolyte ion; and a conductive auxiliary contains at least one of a particulate carbon and a fibrous carbon. Preferably the porous conductive base has a pore fraction of 50-85 % before charging, and its charging ratio is 5 % or more. Preferably the ratio of the conductive auxiliary to the electrode active material is 50 wt% or less. The electrochemical cell is a secondary battery or a capacitor. |
