Summary:PURPOSE: A method and a system for offering a tree view showing unannotated text nodes in a data format document are provided to enable a user to easily understand existence and location of the unannotated text nodes by offering a data tree view showing the unannotated text nodes in a markup language document. CONSTITUTION: A user gets a schema file related to the document which the user wants to make an annotation(415). A user annotates the document by using elements of a data structure(420). A tree view window is provided to the user automatically or by user's selection(425). It is judged that the unannotated text nodes have sibling elements(430). The tree view is displayed with the current parent/child element names(435). To show the existence/location of the unannotated text nodes at the location of the text nodes related to other structure of the document, text node indicators are provided to the user(440). A list of structure elements temporarily applied to the unannotated text nodes is provided to a window(445). The user selects the text node indicators, the selected indicator is highlighted on the document, and the user annotates the highlighted text node(460).
