Summary:PURPOSE: An application program interface facilitating communication between electronic ink and an application program is provided to enable client code access or the application program for ink stroke groupings of various granularities to improve performance of the application program, and improve interaction between the digital ink and the program/associated code. CONSTITUTION: Multiple ink strokes(704) are stored. A division request is issued or received. In response to the division request, the stored ink stroke is grouped to at least one stroke group having the first granularity. Information for at least one stroke group gets to be usable to the application program.
