Summary:PURPOSE: An access burst detector correlator pool is provided to allow a correlator bank to process plural antennas during one period by reducing the number of correlated access codes. CONSTITUTION: A correlator bank(68) is connected to one of antennas by multiplexers(601-6022). The multiplexers(601-6022) select one of antenna outputs to be used by the correlator bank(68). An in-phase sampling unit(48) and a quadrature sampling unit(50) generate in-phase(I) and quadrature(Q) samples of the selected antenna output. The samples are processed by a complex result unit(54) to generate a complex result. 48 access codes are generated by a 48 scrambling code generator(58). Correlators(561-5622) include the multiplexers(601-6022), respectively, in order to effectively mix one of the access codes with the antenna output. Buffers(621-6222) store the mixed result. The buffers(621-6222) delay a code as long as one chip before the code comes into the next correlator.
