Summary:PURPOSE: Provided are a porous film comprising cross-linked polyethylene resin with excellent transmission and mechanical intensity and tolerance for film destruction at high temperature, a battery separator including the porous film, and a non-aqueous electrolyte battery using the separator. CONSTITUTION: The porous film comprises polyolefin resin having weight average molecular weight of 500,000 or more and cross-linked terpolymer of ethylene-propylene-diene. Diene monomer contained in the terpolymer is preferably ethylidene norbornene. The terpolymer has Mooney viscosity of 50 or more (ML1+4(100deg.C)). The porous film is prepared by forming the porous film then cross-linking the film using heat, UV ray or electron beam in the presence of oxygen. The porous film is employed in production of cell separator which is mounted in conventional non-aqueous electrolyte battery.
