Summary:PURPOSE: An apparatus for advancing incrementally a functional probe through a tissue is provided to perform smoothly a bone treatment process by using a probe having a functional element and an advancement mechanism for advancing the probe into the bone. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for therapeutically treating bone includes a housing, a probe, and an advancement mechanism. The housing(11) includes a base part(13) having a distal face and a first passage for opening upon the distal face and forming a longitudinal axis. The probe(41) is adapted to advance through the first passage along the longitudinal axis. The probe has a functional element thereon. The advancement mechanism is adapted to incrementally advance the probe through the first passage.
