Summary:PURPOSE: Provided is polymer powder for producing three-dimensional objects by an SIB (selective inhibition of bonding) method, which is particularly suitable to be used in a process in which a bonding is made via radiated heat, such as a sintering process. CONSTITUTION: A process for producing a three-dimensional object comprises the steps of: (a) providing a layer of pulverulent material; (b) applying a bonding inhibitor to one or more regions of the layer in such a manner that the bonding inhibitor is applied to regions which are not the cross section regions of the three-dimensional object; (c) repeating steps of (a) and (b) until all of the cross-section regions of the three-dimensional object form a matrix, wherein the outer boundary of the three-dimensional object is the interface between the inhibitor-applied pulverulent material and the pulverulent material with no applied inhibitor; and (d) treating the layers at least once to make bonding in the pulverulent material with no applied inhibitor. The pulverulent material has a median particle size of 10 to 200 micrometers and comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of polyester, polyvinyl chloride, polyacetal, polypropylene, polyethylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, PMMA, PMMI, ionomer, polyamide, copolyester, copolyamide, terpolymer, ABS and a mixture thereof.
