CONSTITUTION: This sewing-machine needle has a shank part 1, a needle blade part 22 connecting to the shank part, a needlepoint 6 formed at the tip of the needle blade part, a needle eye 5 bored near the needlepoint, and a thread groove 7 formed from the needle eye to the needle blade part. A recessed part 4 is formed in a shank part side position of a face opposite to the thread groove 7 of the needle eye 5, a rear face side of the recessed part is projected toward the opposite side to the scarf with respect to a needle central axis to form a crank part 8, and a needle eye end part 9 continuing from the recessed part 4 is protruded outward by a prescribed height d from an outline of the needle blade part 22.
