Summary:PURPOSE: Provided is a fluid collection apparatus adapted to test a concentration of an analytes in a fluid including a lid and a base. CONSTITUTION: A fluid collection apparatus comprises a lid(12), a base(14) having a plane, a spacer(16a) disposed between the lid and the base, and a lance(24) disposed between the lid and the base for extending beyond the lid and the base for puncturing. The spacer further includes a capillary channel having an opening for receiving the fluid. The lance(24) is moveable relative to the base and parallel to the plane of the base. The lance has a piercing end that is moveable to a position adjacent the opening of the capillary channel.
