PURPOSE: A method of selecting a preference channel of a multichannel television is provided to classify preference channels into preference channel groups to select a preference channel rapidly and easily. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of preference channels among a plurality of channels of television are classified into a predetermined preference channel groups(202). The frequency of a preference channel selected by a user is stored in unit of the preference channel groups(204). A television mode is converted into a preference channel mode for selecting the plurality of preference channels(206). In the case that the first preference channel group selection signal for selecting the first preference channel group from the plurality of preference channel groups is inputted(208), the preference channel having the highest frequency among the preference channels included in the first preference channel group is displayed(210). 본 발명은 다채널 텔레비전에 있어서, 다채널 텔레비전의 선호 채널을 선택하는 방법을 제공함에 있다. 이런한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명은 복수개의 채널들을 텔레비전의 채널을 선택하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 복수개의 채널들 중 사용자가 선호하는 복수개의 선호 채널들을 미리 설정된 복수개의 선호 채널 그룹들로 분류하는 과정과, 사용자가 선택한 선호 채널들의 빈도를 상기 선호 채널 그룹 단위로 저장하는 과정과, 상기 복수개의 선호 채널들을 선택하기 위한 선호 채널 모드로 전환하는 과정과, 상기 복수개의 선호 채널 그룹들 중 제 1 선호 채널 그룹을 선택하는 제 1 선호 채널 그룹 선택 신호가 입력될 경우, 상기 제 1 선호 채널 그룹에 포함된 선호 채널 중 가장 높은 빈도의 선호 채널을 표시하는 과정을 구비함을 특징으로 한다.
