PURPOSE: A device and a method for selecting a TV channel by a multi-screen are provided to assign number to respective images displayed on a TV screen for selecting the image number instead of a channel number, and simplify the realization of the position of a cursor by highlighting the cursor. CONSTITUTION: A device for selecting a TV channel by a multi-screen includes a number assigning part(214) for assigning numbers to images allocated in a predetermined direction, and an image output part(216) for displaying the images assigning the numbers on a screen, and outputs an image selected by a switching signal output from a switching part(220) on a single screen. A highlight part(218) highlights a cursor of multiple images displayed by the image output part according to a control signal of a control part(200), to make the position of the cursor realized easier. The control part controls the operations of the number assigning part and the highlight part. 본 발명은 티브이 화면에 다중영상을 표시하는 것에 관한 것으로, 특히 다중화면에서 채널 선택을 간편하게 하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 일정 방향으로 할당된 영상들에 번호를 부여하고 출력하는 번호 할당부와, 상기 번호 할당부로부터 입력받은 각각의 영상들을 화면에 표시하는 영상 출력부와, 상기 영상 출력부에서 표시하고 있는 다중영상 중 커서의 위치를 표시할 수 있도록 하는 하이 라이트부와, 상기 번호 할당부를 제어하여 각각의 영상들에 번호를 할당하고, 상기 하이 라이트부를 제어하여 방향 키입력에 따라 상기 영상 출력부에서 표시하고 있는 각각의 영상들 중 커서의 이동을 표시할 수 있도록 화면에 하이 라이트 하도록 제어하는 제어부를 포함함을 특징으로 한다. 따라서 본 발명은 티브이 화면에 표시되는 각각의 영상들에 번호를 부여한다. 즉, 사용자가 채널을 기억할 필요없이 번호를 입력하여 편리하게 원하는 프로그램을 시청할 수 있는 이점이 있다. 또한 다중영상들 중 커서의 위치를 하이 라이트로 표시하고, 커서의 이동을 하이 라이트로 표시함으로써 커서의 이동위치를 쉽게 알 수 있는 이점이 있다.
