PURPOSE: A device and a method for discriminating a biometric fingerprint are provided to recognize an imitation fingerprint and the biometric fingerprint even if an interfering material such as water and oil is used between the imitation fingerprint and a fingerprint input window. CONSTITUTION: A pair of electrodes(301) are installed to the fingerprint input window(102). An electrode state detector(302) detects an on/off state of the electrodes(301) if an object(22) is contacted to the electrodes(301). A timer(303) detects the passing time after the object(22) is contacted to the fingerprint input window(102). After the timer(303) detects the passing time, a discriminator(304) discriminates the object as the imitation fingerprint if the electrode state is off, and discriminates the object as the biometric fingerprint if the electrode state is on. 본 발명은 지문인식에 있어서, 지문입력창에 설치된 전극의 스위칭 동작에 의해 입력된 지문인 모조지문인지 생체지문인지를 판별하는 장치 및 방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 생체지문 판별방법은, 지문입력창에 설치된 전극의 온/오프 상태를 검출하는 단계; 전극의 온상태가 검출되면 상기 지문입력창에 놓인 접촉체로부터 지문영상을 취득하는 단계; 지문영상을 취득한 후 소정 시간이 경과한 후에 상기 전극의 온/오프 상태를 검출하는 단계; 상기 전극의 상태가 온이면 모조지문으로 오프상태이면 생체지문으로 판별하는 단계로 구성된다.
