Summary:PURPOSE: A treatment method of wastewater containing ethylene glycol is provided, which can treat wastewater containing ethylene glycol efficiently within a shortened time using catalytic wet oxidation process, so that wastewater generated from polyester fiber processing can be treated without any environmental pollution problem. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of feeding oxidizing agent of air or pure oxygen to wastewater of 3 to 11 of pH containing ethylene glycol at 130 to 200 deg.C; and conducting wet oxidation using one catalyst selected from a group consisting of Pt/Al2O3. Pt/TiO2, Mn/CeO2 or Mn/Al2O3. 본 발명은 폴리에스테르 섬유의 감량가공 과정에서 발생하는 폐액에 함유된 에틸렌글리콜을 적합한 촉매를 선정하여 분해하는 에틸렌글리콜 함유 폐수의 처리방법에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따른 에틸렌글리콜 함유 폐수의 처리방법은 에틸렌글리콜을 함유한 폐수를 130 내지 200℃의 온도에서 산화제를 주입하고 Pt/AlO, Pt/TiO, Mn/CeO또는 Mn/AlO로 이루어진 그룹에서 선택된 어느 하나의 촉매를 이용하여 습식산화시키는 것을 특징으로 한다. 본 발명에 따르면 짧은 시간내에 고효율적으로 에틸렌글리콜을 처리할 수 있어 에틸렌글리콜 함유 폐수의 경제성 있는 처리공정을 제공할 수 있다.
