PURPOSE: Provided is an apparatus for reducing a molecular weight of an oil and sooty smoke using plasma, by applying a high voltage to an oil to generate plasma by streamer discharge, thereby converting a high molecular weight oil to a low molecular weight and reducing harmful gases and particles generated during combustion of the oil. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus includes a square column oil tank having an oil inlet port at a side of the upper part and oil outlet port at a side of the lower part; a metallic electrode disposed at the bottom inside the oil tank; a dielectric device disposed at the bottom of the oil tank; a metallic grounding electrode; and a high voltage supplying part electrically connected to the metallic electrode and the metallic grounding electrode to apply a high voltage. The metallic electrode has a spiral shape, turning at an interval of 1 to 10mm, or a disc shape having a plurality of circular cones on the rear surface. 본 발명은 플라즈마를 이용한 오일 분자량 및 매연 저감장치에 관한 것으로, 오일 주입구가 일측면 상단에 구비되고, 오일 배출구가 타측면 하단에 설치되는 구비되는 사각 형태의 오일 탱크와, 상기 오일 탱크의 내부 저면에 설치되는 금속 전극과, 상기 오일 탱크의 저면에 설치되는 유전체와, 상기 유전체의 저면에 설치되는 금속 접지 전극과, 상기 금속 전극과 상기 금속 접지 전극에 전기적으로 연결되어 고전압을 인가하는 고전압 공급부를 포함하여 구성되는 것을 특징으로 한다. 따라서 상기와 같이 구성된 본 발명에 따르면 오일중에 고전압을 인가하여 스트리머 방전을 이용한 플라즈마를 발생시켜 고 분자량의 오일을 저 분자량의 오일로 변화시킴과 동시에 불안정화(라디칼화)시켜 오일의 연소시 연소 효율을 높임으로써 배기 가스중의 유해 가스와 입자상 물질을 줄일 수 있다.
