PURPOSE: A device for managing optical cable switching and a method therefor are provided to collectively manage operation data of a switching module, and to store a defected position and optical characteristic results in a data storage when an alarm is generated, thereby preventing communication defects in advance. CONSTITUTION: A switching manager(110) collects optical power values and switching/alarming information, decides a switching time by comparing the information and the values with switching condition values, and displays changed switching situation information. A switching system(200) switches an optical cable, and supplies switching situation information to the switching manager(110). A data transmitter/receiver(120) supplies the switching/alarming information and the optical power values to the switching manager(110), and supplies a switching command to the switching system(200). A data storage(130) displays switching situations of the switching system(200). A network interface(150) transmits the switching/alarming situation information and the power values to other managing system, and supplies optical connection information to the switching manager(110). 본 발명은 광케이블 절체 관리장치 및 방법에 관한 것으로, 광케이블 절체/경보 상황 정보 및 측정된 광 파워 값을 수집하고, 수집된 정보 및 값들을 토대로 절체 조건값과 비교하여 절체 시점을 판단하여 절체를 수행해야 할 경우, 절체 명령을 제공하고, 절체 명령에 대응하는 변경된 절체 상황 정보를 저장 기록 및 디스플레이(display)하도록 관리하는 절체 관리부; 절체 관리부로부터 제공되는 절체 명령에 따라 광케이블로의 절체를 수행한 후, 수행된 절체에 따른 절체 상황 정보를 절체 관리부에 제공하는 절체 시스템; 절체 관리부와 절체 시스템간을 연결시키는 매개체 역할을 수행하며, 절체 시스템으로부터 수신되는 절체/경보 상황 정보 및 측정된 광 파워 값을 절체 관리부에 제공하며, 절체 관리부에서 송신되는 절체 명령을 절체 시스템에 제공하는 데이터 송/수신부; 절체 관리부에 의해 수집된 절체/경보 상황 정보 및 측정된 광 파워 값들을 데이터베이스(DB) 형태로 저장 및 기록하는 데이터 저장부; 절체 관리부를 통해 제공되는 절체 시스템 내 절체 모듈들의 절체 상황을 사용자가 볼 수 있도록 디스플레이(display)하는 화면 표시부; 절체 관리부로부터 수신되는 절체/경보 상황 정보 및 측정된 광 파워 값을 타 관리 시스템에 전달해 주며, 타 관리 시스템으로부터 제공되는 광케이블 연결 구성 정보를 제공받아 절체 관리부에 제공하는 네트워크 인터페이스를 구비한다. 따라서, 고속화/대용량화되는 광통신망에 따른 통신 장애를 사전에 예방하며, 장애 발생 시 빠른 복구를 통하여 피해를 최소화시켜 통신서비스의 신뢰성을 향상시킬 수 있는효과가 있다.
