Summary:PURPOSE: A structure of a shelf of a direct cooling type refrigerator is provided to prevent rusting. CONSTITUTION: Shelves(200) are made of glass to improve appearance, and installed in a refrigerator compartment to put food thereon. Chilled air passing grooves(201) are formed on both ends and a rear side of the shelf to allow chilled air to pass. Chilled air flows into a machine room formed on a rear side of a freezer compartment and separated by a shroud through a chilled air channel formed in a main body to pass a heat exchanger installed in the machine room to be cooled down. Some of the cooled down chilled air is blown into the freezer compartment by an axial flow fan rotated by a motor while the rest is blown into the refrigerator compartment through the chilled air channel. Chilled air blown into the refrigerator compartment flows downward to cool down food put on the shelves, and flows downward through the chilled air passing grooves formed on both of the ends and the rear sides of the shelves to cool down food put on the shelves thereunder.
