Summary:PURPOSE: A method for assigning a dynamic band on an ATM-PON(Passive Optical Network) is provided to determine a band to be assigned to ONUs(Optical Network Units) in order to satisfy service quality of connections set to each of the ONUs from information on the number of non-realtime cells and traffic presenter information, thereby increasing using efficiency of an uplink transmission channel. CONSTITUTION: An ATM-PON compares a sum of fixed BW(Bandwidth) of all ONUs with a link capacity(101). If the sum is bigger than the link capacity, the ATM-PON assigns bands to the ONUs in proportion to effective BWs(102). If a band an ONU exceeds the fixed BW, the ATM-PON assigns bands to the ONU as many as the fixed BW(103), and divides the rest exceeding bands to the rest ONUs(104). If the sum is smaller than the link capacity, the ATM-PON assigns bands to all the ONUs(106), and compares a sum of maximum BWs of all the ONUs with the link capacity(107). If the sum is bigger, the ATM-PON divides the rest bands to additionally assign the bands(108). If total bands exceed the maximum BW, the ATM-PON controls assigning amounts(109), and divides the remaining exceeding bands to the rest ONUs with the same method(110). 본 발명은 비동기 전송 모드 수동 광통신망(ATM-PON) 상에서 복수의 광통신망 유닛(ONU)을 구비한 ONU그룹과 광 종단장치(OLT) 간의 매체 접속 제어(MAC) 프로토콜에서의 동적 대역 할당 방법에 관한 것으로서, 상기 광종단장치에서 ONU그룹의 각 ONU에 설정된 연결들의 트래픽 표현자 정보와 각 ONU에 대기 중인 비실시간 셀의 수에 대한 정보로부터 각 ONU에 설정된 연결의 서비스 품질을 만족시키도록 해당 ONU에 할당할 대역을 결정하여, 상향 전송 채널의 이용률을 높이면서도 효율적인 전송을 가능하게 할 수 있다는 장점이 있다.
