Summary:PURPOSE: A master carrier for magnetic transfer is provided to rectify a transfer field and ensure an excellent transfer signal in a slave medium after magnetic transfer. CONSTITUTION: A master carrier(3) for magnetic transfer includes a base sheet(3a) which is formed of a magnetic material. The master carrier has an irregularity pattern(31) representing information to be transferred to a magnetic recording medium and a magnetic layer(3b) formed along the irregularity pattern. The saturation magnetization(Mm) of the magnetic layer and the saturation magnetization(Ms) of the base sheet satisfy the condition 1.0<Mm/Ms<100. (과제)자기전사용 마스터 담체에 있어서, 마스터 담체로부터 자기전사에 의해 자기패턴이 형성된 자기기록매체에 의해 양호한 재생신호를 얻을 수 있도록 한다. (해결수단)자기기록매체(2)에 전사해야할 정보에 따른 요철패턴을 갖는 자성재료로 이루어지는 기판(3a)과, 상기 기판(3a)의 적어도 볼록부(31)에 형성된 자성층(3b)을 구비하여 이루어지는 자기전사용 마스터 담체(3)에 있어서, 기판(3a)의 포화자화(Ms)와의 자성층(3b)의 포화자화(Mm)가 1.0<Mm/Ms<100의 관계가 되도록 재료를 선택한다.
