PURPOSE: A system for inserting an advertisement in a background image displayed on a display window of a portable phone terminal and a method thereof are provided to insert the advertisement in the background image specially composed of a plurality of pictures in contents downloaded to the portable phone terminal, so as to simultaneously display the background image and advertisement data to a portable phone user. CONSTITUTION: A contents server(10) converts a format of background image data in which advertisement information is inserted appropriately for transmitting the background image data to a portable phone terminal(50) connected to a wireless network(40). A contents database(30) stores the background image data therein, and interworks with the contents server(10) to deliver the stored background image data to the contents server(10). And a network server(20) transmits a list of background image data stored in the contents database(30) to a user of the portable phone terminal(50), and transmits background image data selected in the list by the user to the portable phone terminal(50). 본 발명은 휴대 전화 단말기의 디스플레이창에 표시되는 배경 그림에 광고를 삽입하는 시스템 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다. 더욱 상세하게는, 광고 정보가 삽입된 배경 그림 데이터를 무선망에 접속된 휴대 전화 단말기에 적합하게 변환하고, 이를 관리하는 컨텐츠 서버; 및 사용자가 요청한 상기 배경 그림 데이터를 상기 컨텐츠 서버로부터 전달받아 이를 무선망을 통하여 사용자의 휴대 전화 단말기로 전송하는 네트웍 서버; 및 상기 컨텐츠 서버와 연동되어 요청에 따른 배경그림 데이터를 컨텐츠 서버에 전달하고, 상기 광고 정보가 삽입된 컨텐츠 정보를 저장하기 위한 컨텐츠 데이터베이스;로 구성되는 것을 특징으로 한다.
