Summary: | PURPOSE: A sputtered cathode having a heavy alkaline metal halide-in an organic light-emitting device structure is provided to obtain relatively uniform response in the visible wavelength range. CONSTITUTION: An OLED device(100) comprises a substrate(101), an anode(102) formed of a conductive material over the substrate, an emissive layer(105) having an electroluminescent material provided over the anode layer, a buffer layer, provided over the emissive layer and comprising a heavy alkaline metal halide, and a sputtered layer of a metal or metal alloy provided over the buffer layer and selected to function with the buffer layer to inject electrons.
