PURPOSE: A visual aid for visually handicapped person capable of sensing distance and color information of an object and then transmitting them through auditory sense during walking or activity is provided, thereby giving a user good information close to real visual information. CONSTITUTION: The visual aid comprises: a space sensing unit(7) for detecting a shape, position and distance of an object to be detected; a color sensing unit(9) for detecting brightness and color of the object; an A/D converter(11) for converting the detected analog signal to a digital signal; a control unit(13) for processing the inputted signal and outputting the processed signal; a sound transform unit(15) for transforming the input signal to a sound signal; and a sound generating unit for outputting the sound signal into a sound. 본 발명은 시각 장애인의 보행이나 활동시 전방 물체의 거리 및 색 정보를 센싱하고 이를 청각을 통해 전달함으로써 정보의 원활한 전달과 실제 시각 정보에 근접하는 양질의 정보를 시각 장애인에게 인지시켜 실생활에 도움을 줄 수 있도록 하기 위한 것으로서, 전방 물체의 모양, 위치 및 거리를 감지하는 공간검지 센싱수단과, 상기 대상 물체의 밝기 및 빛깔을 감지하는 색검지 센싱수단과, 상기 공간검지 센싱수단 및 색검지 센싱수단으로부터 측정된 아날로그신호를 디지탈신호로 변환하는 A/D컨버터와, 상기 공간검지 센싱수단 및 색검지 센싱수단을 제어하여 전방 영상 정보를 순차 스캔하고 A/D컨버터를 통해 입력된 신호를 연산 처리하여 공간검지 혹은 색검지에 해당하는 각기 다른 신호로 가공 출력하는 제어수단과, 상기 제어수단으로부터 가공 출력되는 신호를 다시 아날로그로 변환하고 동시에 소리 신호로 변환하는 소리변환수단, 그리고 상기 소리변환수단의 신호를 받아 소리를 출력하는 소리발생수단을 포함하여 구성된 시각 장애인용 시각 보조장치를 제안한다.
