PURPOSE: A system for providing background information during a telephone call and a method therefor are provided to efficiently transmit background information by synthesizing background sound information to a voice signal of an object, providing the voice signal of the object a termination/origination communication terminal to a voice communication network, and providing background image information to the termination/origination communication terminal through a data communication network. CONSTITUTION: A background information providing device(10) synthesizes a background sound to a voice signal of an object according to the request of an origination communication terminal. The background information providing device(10) provides the voice signal of the object to an origination/termination communication terminal through a voice communication network(21), and provides background image information to the origination/termination communication terminal through a data communication network(22). The background information providing device(10) continuously monitors input information of the origination communication terminal. If information for changing background setup is inputted from the origination communication terminal, the background information providing device(10) changes background information provided to the origination/termination communication terminal and provides changed background information to the origination/termination communication terminal. 본 발명은 발신자가 설정한 배경음과 배경화상정보를 통화중인 발·착신 통신단말기로 제공함과 더불어 발신자가 착신자와의 통화중에 임의로 배경음과 배경화상정보를 변경시키는 것이 가능하도록 된 통화중 배경정보 제공시스템 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다. 또한 본 발명에 따른 통화중 배경정보제공시스템 및 그 방법은 발·착신 통신단말기로 소정 배경정보를 제공하는 배경정보제공장치가 음성통신망 및 데이터통신망을 통해 발·착신 통신단말기와 결합되도록 구성된다. 그리고, 배경정보제공장치는 발신자와 착신자의 음성신호에 배경음을 합성하여 음성통신망을 통해 발·착신 통신단말기로 제공함과 더불어 배경화상정보는 데이터통신망을 통해 발·착신 통신단말기로 제공하도록 구성된다. 이때 배경정보제공장치는 발신자가 미리 설정한 배경음정보와 배경화상정보를 발·착신 통신단말기로 제공하며, 통화중 발신자의 통신단말기로부터 배경설정변경정보가 검출되면 이를 근거로 현재 제공되는 배경음이나 배경화상정보를 변경시켜 발·착신 통신단말기로 제공하도록 구성된다. 또한, 발신자는 착신번호에 대한 배경음정보와 배경화상정보를 설정하여 해당 착신번호의 통신단말기와의 통화시 자신이 미리 설정한 배경음정보와 배경화상정보를 제공받을 수 있게 된다.
