Summary:PURPOSE: To provide a method and apparatus for generating hypochlorous acid, capable of efficiently generating hypochlorous acid without containing many chloride ions in water to be treated to enhance the treatment efficiency of water to be treated. CONSTITUTION: In the method for generating hypochlorous acid in water to be treated by electrolysis by allowing a current to flow across an anode 6 and a cathode 7, a noble metal or a metal oxide is used as the material constituting the anode 6 and the concentration of chloride ions in water to be treated is set to 1,000 mg/l or less to perform the electrolysis of water to be treated under stirring. 피처리수 중에 할로겐화물 이온을 많이 포함하는 일 없이, 효율적으로 차아할로겐산을 발생시키고, 피처리수의 처리 효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 차아할로겐산 발생 방법 및 차아할로겐산 발생 장치를 제공한다. 애노드(6)와 캐소드(7) 사이에 전류를 흘려서, 전해에 의해서 피처리수 중에 차아할로겐산을 발생시키는 차아할로겐산 발생 방법이며, 애노드(6)를 구성하는 재료로서 귀금속 또는 금속 산화물을 이용함과 동시에, 피처리수의 할로겐화물 이온의 농도를 1000 mg /l 이하로 하여, 피처리수를 교반하면서 전해를 행한다.
