PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for displaying disk information in a DVD system are provided to easily select a disk wanted by a user by easily grasping the kind and the contents of the disk. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for displaying disk information in a DVD system includes a disk changer(104) having two or more trays and selectively loading disks put on the trays, a disk regeneration processing part(103) reading information capable of knowing the kind and the contents of the disks put on the trays, a memory part(105) storing the information capable of knowing the kind and the contents of the disks put on the trays, a display part(106) displaying the information capable of knowing the kind and the contents of the disks put on the trays, and a control part(102) controlling to store the information capable of knowing the kind and the contents of the disks put on the trays at the memory part, and displaying the information capable of knowing the kind and the contents of the disks put on the trays at the display part. 본 발명은 체인저 기능을 구비한 DVD 시스템에 있어서 DVD 시스템내의 각 트레이에 장착된 디스크에 대한 정보를 종합적으로 표시하는 디스크 정보 표시 장치 및 방법이다. 본 발명에 따른 디스크 정보 표시 장치는, 체인저 기능을 갖는 디스크 시스템의 디스크 정보 표시 장치에 있어서, 2개 이상의 트레이를 구비하고, 트레이에 구비되어 있는 디스크를 선택적으로 로딩시키는 디스크 체인저; 로딩되는 디스크로부터 디스크의 종류 및 디스크의 내용을 알 수 있는 정보를 독출하는 디스크 재생 처리부;각 트레이에 구비되어 있는 디스크에 대한 디스크의 종류 및 디스크의 내용을 알 수 있는 정보를 저장하는 메모리부; 각 트레이에 장착된 디스크에 대한 디스크의 종류 및 디스크의 내용을 알 수 있는 정보를 표시하는 표시부; 디스크 재생 처리부로부터 제공되는 디스크의 종류 및 디스크의 내용을 알 수 있는 정보가 메모리부에 저장되고, 표시부에 표시되도록 제어하는 제어부를 포함한다. 따라서 사용자가 한 번에 DVD 시스템에 구비되어 있는 트레이에 디스크 존재 유무 및 존재하는 디스크의 종류와 내용을 용이하게 파악할 수 있어 사용자가 재생을 원하는 디스크의 선택이 용이하다.
