Summary:PURPOSE: A portable computer is provided to prevent a hand of a user from contacting with a touch pad during typing. CONSTITUTION: The portable computer(1) includes a main body(3) being equipped with the parts such as a main board and a CPU, and an LCD assembly(5) folding and connecting to an upper part of the main body(3) by a hinge. The main body(3) includes a lower casing(10) and an upper casing(11) forming a part receiving space within the casing by mutual connection. A circumference of the main body(3) is equipped with a floppy disk driver(13), a CD-ROM drive(15) and an external input device connection port(17). A pad opening for exposing the touch pad(30) to the outside and a keyboard installation opening for installing a keyboard(27) are formed on the upper casing(10). A touch pad opening/closing device(40) opening/closing the pad opening to allow or close the exposure of the touch pad(30) is prepared in the main body(30). 본 발명은, 패드개구를 갖는 본체와, 상기 패드개구를 통해 외부로 노출되도록 상기 본체에 마련되는 터치패드를 구비한 휴대용 컴퓨터에 관한 것으로서, 상기 패드개구를 개폐하는 패드커버를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다. 이에 의하여, 타이핑 작업시 사용자의 손이 터치패드에 접촉되는 것을 방지할 수 있는 휴대용 컴퓨터가 제공된다.
