Summary:PURPOSE: A rubber composition for a studless tire tread is provided to improve the braking property and the low rolling resistance on the icy and snowy surface by using a cellulose fiber surface-treated with a silicon compound and a polyethylene. CONSTITUTION: The rubber composition comprises 100 parts by weight of a diene-based natural rubber; 5-25 parts by weight of a cellulose fiber; 1-10 parts by weight of a polyethylene polymer; and at least one additive selected from the group consisting of a curing accelerator, a curing agent, an antiaging agent, a reinforcement and silica. Preferably the cellulose fiber is surface-treated with 0.5-30 parts by weight of a silicon compound based on the weight of the cellulose fiber. The silicon compound is preferably selected from the group consisting of vinyl tri(2-methoxyethoxy)silane, 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane and 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane.
