Summary:PURPOSE: A device for testing a voice data traffic link in a gateway is provided to encode or decode a looped tone signal or packet data, and to calculate an SNR by analyzing a power ratio of noise mixed with the reproduced tone signal, then to compare the SNR with a preset threshold value to output a result, thereby understanding encoding and decoding capacities of the gateway. CONSTITUTION: A tone signal generator(34) generates a tone signal, and transmits the tone signal. A DTMF signal generated when pressing a general telephone and transmitted to a telephone office is used as the tone signal. The DTMF signal is generated by using a DSP for encoding and decoding data within a gateway(300). An encoder(36) encodes the tone signal, and generates packet data. A decoder(30) decodes the packet data, and reproduces the tone signal. A test result calculator(32) decodes the packet data to receive the reproduced tone signal, and analyzes the tone signal, then compares the reproduced tone signal with a power ratio of noise. The test result calculator(32) calculates an SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) by a compared result, and compares the SNR with a preset threshold value to output a result.
