Summary:PURPOSE: An air fuel ratio is compensated by a compensation map in clutch off after cold starting, thereby preventing abrupt lowering of an engine rpm or an engine stopping. CONSTITUTION: When a manual transmission vehicle is started, various sensors detect temperatures in starting(S1). It is decided whether the detected temperatures are below normal state temperatures(S2). If the detected temperatures are below normal state temperatures, a changing of an engine rpm is detected(S3). The changed amount of rpm is compared with a reference value(S4). If the changed amount of rpm is larger than the reference value, it is decided whether the changing time of the engine rpm is within a certain time which does not affect starting(S5). If the engine rpm change is within the certain time, it is decided whether there is any electrical load(S6). If there is not an electrical load, an engine compensation control is carried out by a compensation map(S7).
