Summary:PURPOSE: A method for increasing the color stability of a ZnS:CuCl electroluminescent substance is provided, by firing it together with a material for increasing of the color stability. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of forming an electroluminescent substance; and firing the electroluminescent substance in the presence of a material selected from the group consisting of Eu, Ce and Sm in vacuum for a time sufficient to provide the increase of the color stability. Preferably the vacuum pressure is about 730-750 mmHg and the firing time is about 72 hours. Also the method comprises the steps of forming an electroluminescent substance; placing a powdery or granule material selected from the group consisting of Eu, Ce and Sm on the bottom of a reactor; covering the element with a steam-permeable wall; adding the electroluminescent substance in a certain amount to the reactor above the wall; sealing the reactor by ventilation; and heating it.
