PURPOSE: A recording device for enabling replacing a disk cartridge is provided to be easily detached from a computer, as a PCMCIA(Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) card type recording device convenient to carry. And the recording device is provided to replace the disk cartridge having a built-in disk even when extending a memory capacity. CONSTITUTION: A housing(10) has a disk cartridge mounting unit(14) in which a disk cartridge(20) is stably mounted. A disk driving unit(30) installed on the housing(10) rotates a recording medium(25) in the disk cartridge(20) stably mounted on the disk cartridge mounting unit(14). A recording/playing unit(40) installed on the housing(10) records and plays information for the recording medium(25). A protective cover(50) is installed on the housing(10) to cover and protect the disk cartridge(20). The protective cover(50) is detachable from the housing(10) and rotates on the housing(10). And the protective cover(50) is prevented from being separated from the housing(10) through a snap coupling between elastic plates(57) and protuberances(17), wherein the elastic plates(57) are formed on one of the protective cover(50) and the housing(10) and the protuberances(17) are formed on the other thereof.
