PURPOSE: A Paxillus curtisii extract and a paraterphenyl-based derivative obtained therefrom are provided which have an excellent antioxidant activity on strongly inhibiting lipoperoxidation and can be widely used as material for food, cosmetic and medicine because it has low side effects and toxicity. CONSTITUTION: Fruit body or mycelium of Paxillus curtisii is soaked in an organic solvent for 1 hr to 2 days and extracted to produce a Paxillus curtisii extract. A lipoperoxidation inhibitor contains the Paxillus curtisii extract and a compound of formula as an effective compound. In formula, R1 is -(OCOCH3) or -(OCOCH2CH(OH)CH3, R2 is -(OCO-phenyl) or -(OCOCH2CH2-phenyl).
