Summary:PURPOSE: Provided are an improved membrane electrode unit for polymer electrolyte fuel cells and a process for the production thereof, which avoid the disadvantages described in the prior art. CONSTITUTION: The membrane electrode unit(1) for polymer electrolyte fuel cells comprises a polymer electrolyte membrane which has a first and a second face each of which is in contact with a porous reaction layer and gas distributor layer(5), wherein each of the two reaction layer contains a noble metal catalyst supported on carbon and an ionomer, and at least one of the two reaction layers(3,4) also contains a noble metal black. The process comprises the steps of a) application of the reaction layer containing the noble metal black to the first face of the polymer electrolyte membrane, comprising: making up an ink by mixing the noble metal black and the noble metal catalyst supported on carbon in a solution of ion-conducting polymer in a solvent, dispersing and homogenizing the ink, coating a first face of the polymer electrolyte membrane with the ink, finishing the reaction layer by drying the coating; b) application of the second reaction layer to a second face of the polymer electrolyte membrane; and c) placing the reaction layers in contact with the gas distributor layers. 본 발명은 양 면이 다공성 반응층 및 기체 분배층과 접촉되어 있는, 중합체 전해질 막으로 이루어진 중합체 전해질 연료 전지용 막 전극 단위에 관한 것이다. 반응층은 탄소상 귀금속 지지 촉매와 양자 전도성 중합체, 이른바 이오노머를 함유한다. 막 전극 단위는 두 반응층 중의 하나 이상이 귀금속 블랙도 또한 함유함을 특징으로 한다.
