CONSTITUTION: An optical transmission line in the Raman amplifier 1 which transmits the signal light inputted from an input terminal 1a and also processes the signal light by Raman amplification with the exciting light supplied from exciting light source units 21 and 22 is constituted by connecting two optical fibers 11 and 12 for Raman amplification in series, and they are set to mutually different wavelength dispersion values. This constitution makes it possible to control the wavelength dispersion in the amplifier 1 by using a combination of the wavelength dispersion values of the optical fibers 11 and 12 for Raman amplification, etc. Consequently, the deterioration in the transmission quality of the signal light due to nonlinear optical effect is suppressed by preventing dispersion from being accumulated in the signal light and the signal light from being transmitted nearby zero dispersion. 본 발명은 입력단(1a)으로부터 입력된 신호광을 전송함과 동시에, 여기 광원 유닛(21, 22)으로부터 공급되는 여기광에 의해서 신호광을 라만(Raman) 증폭하는 라만 증폭기 모듈(1) 내의 광전송로를, 2개의 라만 증폭용 광섬유(11, 12)를 직렬로 접속하여 구성하고, 그 파장 분산을 각각 다른 값으로 한다. 이 구성에 따르면 라만 증폭용 광섬유(11, 12)의 파장 분산치의 조합 등을 이용하여, 증폭기 모듈(1) 내에서의 파장 분산을 제어할 수 있다. 이로써, 신호광으로의 분산의 누적이나 영분산 근방에서의 신호광의 전송 등을 방지하고, 비선형 광학 효과에 의한 신호광의 전송 품질의 열화가 억제된다.
