Summary:PURPOSE: To reduce power consumption of a liquid crystal device. CONSTITUTION: A shift register part 210 is provided with blocked DX selection circuits SL1-SL10 and shift registers SR1-SR10. An X-clock signal XCK is supplied to the blocks, of where which the image data values do not match each other between time-sequentially adjacent horizontal lines of data, and is not supplied to the blocks where the image data values match each other. In addition, the image data forming time-division data D', becomes inactive for the matching blocks and the precedent data value is maintained. Therefore, electric power for driving an X-clock signal supply line CKL and an image data supply line DL can be reduced.
