Summary:PURPOSE: A PDP(plasma display panel) driving method is provided to prevent an abnormal discharge even in the case of displaying reduced in flicker by PDP of an ALIS(Alternate Lighting of Surface) system. CONSTITUTION: The method for driving a plasma display panel for performing a gray scale display comprises the following steps of alternately arranging plural first and second electrodes adjacently to each other, forming a first display line with a second electrode adjacent to one of the first electrodes, forming a second display line with the second electrode adjacent to the other first electrode, composing one picture display field of plural sub-fields, and combining displaying sub-fields. A display field of one picture comprises a sub-field displayed with the first display lines and a sub-field displayed with the second display lines, and a same sub-field is displayed with only either of the first and second display lines.
