Summary:PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display panel and its manufacturing method in which an array substrate 2a where a pixel electrode 20 film formed on a flattening film 19 connects electrically to a switching element 12 through a contact hole 21, and a counter substrate 3 having a counter electrodes 31 are laminated with a seal 4 attached to the periphery of a display part A, the clearance of both substrates is held by a spacer 23 mixed in a sealing compound 22, the degree of uniformity of a cell gap is enhanced, and the display quality is excellent in the picture display screen whole area. CONSTITUTION: A base raising pattern 17 consisting of the same layer as a light shielding film 16 is formed in a seal attachment area B, and the flattening film 19 of the seal attachment area B is made ultrathin. The amount of falling in to the flattening film 19 of the spacer 23, thereby, is set into the minimum, and equalization of the gap is realized. In addition, the flattening film of the seal attachment area B is removed by an existing etching process.
