Summary:PURPOSE: A method for controlling state of a main shaft bearing using an electromagnet exciter and an apparatus thereof are provided to increase the stability of an intelligent main shaft system by controlling the rotary degree and rigidity of the main shaft optimally. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling state of a main shaft bearing using an electromagnet exciter(108) includes the steps of calculating and storing initial rigidity ratio and damping ratio in state of setting up a main shaft system at the optimum state and operating the main shaft system, sensing vibration generated in operating the main shaft system and detecting frequency change generated in rotating a rotary shaft(104), obtaining frequency response function based on the sensed vibration signal and the detected frequency change, calculating in-operating rigidity ratio and damping ratio of the main shaft by analyzing the obtained frequency response function, detecting change quantity by comparing the initial rigidity ratio and damping ratio with the in-operating rigidity ratio and damping ratio, and compensating the rigidity change of the main shaft by exciting the electromagnet exciter mounted at a predetermined part within a housing(102) based on the detected change quantity.
