Summary:PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for copying data between duplexing circuit boards are provided to decrease edge pin for connecting to a circuit board by decreasing a relation of a CPU of each circuit board for copying data, thereby decreasing a load of the CPU and removing an address bus for transmitting an address. CONSTITUTION: If an upper instruction requesting for copying of data in a specific sector to a circuit board(50) is applied to a CPU(41) of a circuit board(40), the CPU(41) toggles a flag signal for informing the copy of data and transmits the flag signal to a CPU(51) of the circuit board(50), and records copy-objected sector information in a register(44). At this time, the CPU(51) reads the sector information and activates an enable signal(SLen_S) and applies the signal to an end gate(53). The CPU(41) activates an enable signal(SLen_A) and a high nibble enable signal(HNA_A), and then applies the signal to an end gate(43) and to a memory(42). The CPU(41) also activates a start signal(STT) and a counter(55), and then applies the signal to end gates(43, 53). A signal generating unit(46) is synchronized to a nibble enable signal(LNA_A) of the counter(45), generates a read control signal, and outputs the signal to the memories(42, 52). At this time, the memory(42) of the circuit board(40) reads data of a sector designated by the nibble enable signals(HNA_A, LNA_A) and outputs the data to the memory(52) of the circuit board(50) of a standby.
