Summary:PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring a convergence and a method thereof is provided to compensate for an effect on the convergence of a cathode ray tube according to the position variation of the cathode ray tube by accurately measuring a dynamic convergence of the cathode ray tube. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus for measuring a convergence includes a pattern generator(9), an optical path separating unit(21), the first and second cameras(7,29), and a control part(11). The pattern generator(9) displays a pattern(51) on a cathode ray tube(3) according to a control signal generated from the control part(11). The optical path separating unit(21) deflects the pattern displayed on the cathode ray tube(3) toward the second camera(29). The second camera(29) generates a stereo image based on the deflected image. The control part(11) calculates the convergence based on the images captured by the first and second cameras(7,29).
