PURPOSE: A data recorder is provided to prevent the size of a file from exceeding a prescribed size, when capturing dynamic image data. CONSTITUTION: The data recorder is provided with an image size detection portion(103), that sequentially records data to a file and decides whether the data can completely be recorded in the file, when the data in the recorded unit are recorded, a file generation control portion(104) that records data to be recorded next to other file or stops the recording when the data cannot be recorded in the file as a result of the decision, and a file write portion(105) that writes the data to the file according to the control from the file generation control portion. 다른 파일을 경유하여 기록할 수 없는 유니트에서 구성된 데이터를 연속적으로 데이터를 입력하고 미리 결정된 용적을 구비한 파일에서 데이터를 기록하는 장치에 있어서, 데이터가 연속적으로 파일에서 기록될 때, 기록되는 다음의 데이터 유니트가 동일한 파일에서 완벽히 기록되는지 안되는지 결정하는 사이즈 검출수단과, 만일 상기 사이즈 검출수단에 의한 결정의 결과가 기록이 불가능함을 나타내는 경우에 또하나의 파일에서 기록되는 상기 다음의 데이터를 기록하거나 또는 기록을 정지하는 파일생성 제어수단과, 상기 파일생성 제어수단으로부터 제어에 따른, 파일에서 데이터를 기입하는 파일 기입수단을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 데이터 기록장치.
