Summary: | PURPOSE: A method for polycondensation of a polyester using a lithium titanyl oxalate catalyst is provided, to produce a polyester having excellent color-properties by a polycondensation reaction. CONSTITUTION: A polyester is prepared by a catalytic polycondensation of a polyester-forming reactant in the presence of a polycondensation catalyst. As the polycondensation catalyst, lithium titanyl oxalate is used. Preferably the catalyst is represented by M2TiO(C2O4)2(H2O)n, wherein M's are independent each another and are selected from the group consisting of K, Li, Na and Cs; and n is 0 or represents the amount of hydrated H2O. Optionally an antimony-containing catalyst is further used. |
